August

Baby Semifinalists:

Max-7 months

Here is what Max's mom says about him and the family:

"Max is a very happy child. He adores animals and love to dance."

"We recycle everything possible. We even used cloth diapers.

We try to buy recycled products whenever they're available.

We wear lots of hand me downs and pass along our old

clothing to be used by others."

Orion-10 months

Here is what Orion's mom says about him and the family:

"Orion is an amazing musician. He's been playing a full size drum before he could walk.

He would pull himself up bang on the drum while working the base petal.

Every day he plays in his Daddy's recording studio."

"We are artists who recently moved from downtown Seattle to raise our son on five acres 20 miles east

of the city.We have 12 chickens, 2 cats and a 10,000 square foot garden. Our son cares for our chickens

daily. He talks to them and feeds them organic corn and carefully or not so carefully collects the egg!

Every day he waddles down to the garden and wispers to the plants: "Grow" "Grow" "Grow". He

then eats his fill of berries until his face is stained purple. When he leaves the garden he always says:

"Thank You Garden". It's the cutest darn thing I ever heard! He gets the connection of where food

comes from.We are good stewards of the land and want our son to see all the goodness that comes

from a heathy earth.We also have a medium to old growth cedar forest on our property that is

well loved and protected.We are avid recyclers and shop all organic. We love that our son is

being raised in this lifestylethat encourages creativity, conservation and respect for the earth."

Toddler Semifinalists:

Adam-24 months

Here is what Adam's mom says about him and the family:

"He is the joy of my life. He is the little boy I never thought I'd

be able to have. I suffered with infertility for 6 years before he

came along. We live on our own piece of land in the country,

feed and enjoy the wildlife and keep the lawn chemical-free."
